Seated Girl with Black Bow in Hair

  • Egon Schiele (1890–1918)
  • 1909
  • Pencil and red crayon on paper
  • Collection E. and H. H.

A girl is sitting with a relaxed posture. Schiele has depicted her profile with meticulous lines but only paid minimal attention to the rest. Her seat is merely suggested by a single line and most are left as an empty space. The parallel lines of her stockings and details of her dress show the influences of Gustav Klimt’s ornamental style.
