Nude Girl

  • Oskar Kokoschka (1886–1980)
  • 1905/06
  • Oil on canvas
  • Leopold Museum, Vienna

This early work by Oskar Kokoschka was likely painted while he was still a student at the School of Arts and Crafts in Vienna. A nude young girl is leaning against a wall and looking at the viewer. Numerous shades of brown were used to color this academic painting that does not yet reveal Kokoschka’s characteristic style.
