This simple, cylindrical vase is one of the earliest glass designs by Josef Hoffmann. He made several variants of this design in other colors and presented one of them at the 8th Vienna Secession Exhibition in 1900, whose theme was “international crafts.” This vase is a good example of collaboration between artists and manufacturers; it was designed by Josef Hoffmann, executed by Joh. Lötz Witwe, a glass manufacturer, and sold by E. Bakalowits & Söhne.
