Pins used to Secure the Hat
Around 1900, particularly large hats were in fashion with the Viennese women. To keep the hats in place, women used hatpins and fastened them onto hair or wig. These hatpins were designed by Koloman Moser and made in the leather workshop of the Vienna Workshop around 1905. The pins are metal and the pinheads are made of dyed leather with gold-embossed geometric and floral designs. The designers of the Vienna Workshop were dedicated artisans who devoted close attention even when making the smallest objects.
