Mountain Ranges

  • Oil on canvas

When painting this view of receding mountain range, Koloman Moser was not interested in transferring topographical facts to the canvas. The lemon-colored sky is separated only with a blue contour from the mountains where lighter and darker tones contrast. Moser’s simple composition and contrast of colors suggest the influence of Japanese woodcuts.
