Silvia Koller (Daughter of the artist)
Broncia Koller-Pinell was close to the artists of Vienna Secession, including Gustav Klimt and Josef Hoffmann. She was especially appreciated for her original colors and composition in portraits and still-lifes. Her house was a popular meeting place for artists, scientists, musicians, and philosophers. She was a prolific painter herself and also acted as a patron to Egon Schiele and other younger colleagues. In this portrait, Broncia’s daughter Silvia holds a confident pose with a pink carnation, a symbol of love and devotion, in her hands.
