The writer Felix Salten wrote to defend Gustav Klimt’s radical approach to art. This book, portraying Klimt as the forerunner for the Modernist art, was published at the time of Klimt’s solo exhibition. The graphic designer Bertold Löffler designed its cover exclusively in geometrical patterns. Klimt’s name in the center imitates the way Klimt typically signed his paintings. Löffler wanted to cross the boundaries between fine art and applied arts and contributed greatly to the advancement of graphic design.
