Poster for the 40th Exhibition at the Vienna Secession
Although Gustav Klimt left the group with some fellow artists, the Vienna Secession continued their activities, holding regular exhibitions to introduce the works of various artists. It also encouraged emerging artists to experiment with new styles. The 40th Exhibition highlighted the importance of poster art as an independent artistic discipline. Members of the Vienna Secession showcased a wide array of posters that combined graphic design and typography. Ernst Eck designed this poster for the exhibition using strong and purist design language in black and white.
