Poster for the Kunstschau 1908
The Kunstschau 1908 was a ground-breaking event in early-twentiethcentury Vienna’s art scene. Gustav Klimt and some of his fellow artists broke away from the Vienna Secession in 1905 and formed the “Klimt Group” to experiment with more radical styles. Young artists like Oskar Kokoschka participated in Kunstschau 1908, with Egon Schiele exhibiting his works to the public for the first time. For this exhibition poster, Rudolf Kalvach used simple forms and colors to depict a kneeling woman in front of the woods, symbolizing the harmony between nature and humans.
